Ilan Shchori - Resume
Ilan Shchori born in tel aviv (Jan.1954) father of twins. For the
past twenty years works as a senior journalist in "Haaretz" a daily news
paper. At the same time completes his P.H.D. research in Jewish History
and the History of Eretz Israel in the University of Tel Aviv.
His first steps as a journalist was as a writer in youth magazines
("Haaretz Shelanu", and "Maariv Lanoar") and latter on as a journalist
in "Maariv". Since 1977 serves as an editorial staff member in
"Haaretz". For 7 years was in charge of Tel-Aviv desk and a City Editor,
and latter served for ten years as a political writer and editor. For
the past three years, holds the position of the senior journalist of
Haaretz, and in charge of Tourism and Aviation Desk. At the same time
writes columns and articles to the weekend magazine of the paper,on
various topics like Computers, Hobbies and History. During his long time
journalism work as a political and tourism writer, made deep connections
in both fields.
On the top of his Journalism work, Mr. Shchori specializes in the
research of Eretz Israel, and the History of the Jewish people. since
1979 his research involves the history of Tel-Aviv. In 1982 graduated
University of Tel Aviv (B.A) In 1989 (M.A). At the present time
completes his P.H.D.
His long time Journalism work and research, in the history of
Tel-Aviv, brought him several very important honorary prizes:
"Communication prize" from the "Internal Ministry" (1986), "Preze
Naftalie" prize from "Municipality Of Tel-Aviv (1993), and The
"Histadrut" prieze (1994).
Mr. Shchori published three books: "Tel-Aviv - the dynamics of a
dream", which deals with the development of the world's first all-jewish
and zionist town. The book gained a large publicity, and was a best
seller. (lott. a book and a review). "Herzelia" ( the history of the
city), and a book which tell the story of the special construction of
Tel-Aviv. He published articles and academics articles about Tel-Aviv in
several professionals Journals.
In august 1995 ilan shchori established a new Israeli weekly newapaper for tourisim and travel : “the isreali tourist guide” (i.t.g), and he is the publisher and aditor-in-chief of the newapaper.
